Kevin Daniel of Minnesota was born in 1951. Kevin Daniel continues to attract a growing body of art collectors. His honors have been many and include 1997 U.S. Art Hall of Fame, 1991 Minnesota Wildlife Heritage Foundation Artist of the Year; 1987 North American Limited Edition Dealers (collector plates) Artist of the Year; and winner of the 1990 Minnesota Duck Stamp competition.
When Kevin Daniel began dabbling in paints and completing portraits as a young man in the early 1960s, he had no thought that he was nurturing the beginnings of a profession that would last a lifetime. As he studied the Renaissance masters' paintings and portraits from books and museums, his thoughts were only on how much he enjoyed painting.
In his twenties, this Minnesota native began concentrating on painting animals and wildlife, discovering that people really appreciated the realism and natural beauty he brought to his subjects. He painted wildlife in natural settings, bringing the viewer into remote scenes untouched by mankind.
After a time, Kevin returned to the romantic creativeness of the masters' portraits he studied as a teen. Turning his camera on family and friends, Kevin has become increasingly interested in children as subjects for his portraits because he senses in them an innocence and carefree existence that is readily identifiable. Recently Kevin started combining his love of nature and animals with his interest in people and children in a new series of paintings. The results have been widely accepted and his art is more popular than ever. Full of emotion and a tender memory, Kevin hopes people feel as excited about viewing his paintings as he does about creating them. He won several best in show awards and has been named artist of the year by a number of organizations. He is a regular contributor to Gallery One's MasterVisions and Masterworks in Miniature exhibitions, the Minnesota Wildlife Heritage Show and the National Wildlife and Western Show. He was named to USArt Magazine's Hall of Fame in 1997. Kevin Daniel's images can also be seen in the book In Praise of Labs. His images are published by Applejack.
